How do I get involved?

The Resilient Futures Initiative cannot be achieved without your input.

We invite you to shape this project and our ensure the outcomes reflect the needs and priorities of our community. Get involved, stay engaged, and let’s create a resilient future together!

Represent your community as one of our esteemed Task Force Members. These individuals will be selected based on their ability to identify as and meaningfully liaise with frontline community members.

Amplify our impact by becoming a Project Partner. Project partners are organizations or entities that commit to the initiative’s stated goals and priorities and assist in data collection, education, and/or outreach. Learn more!

Become a Volunteer Ambassador by completing our Ambassador training. Volunteers will be critical in helping us meet our equity-based outreach goals. Join us in our efforts to build a more resilient future.

  • In January 2025, the project will gain momentum with a Virtual Open House and Public Kick-off event to introduce the initiative to the broader community. A Climate Pollution Inventory Learning Session will provide an overview of the results of the 2023 Greenhouse Gas inventory. This will also be the time when the official Community Task Force members will be announced. Additionally, Community Profiles will be published to highlight local challenges and opportunities that will inform the planning process.

Request a presentation or workshop with our project team. We offer to host focus groups with local organizations and neighborhoods to introduce the project and identify strategies to improve resiliency across Central New Mexico. If you’d like us to meet with your organization or neighbors, let us know!

  • From February to April 2025, the focus will shift to public outreach, with a series of community events, presentations, listening sessions, and working groups designed to gather input from a broad range of participants. You can schedule a presentation or request a meeting above.  A Community Survey will be launched during this time to ensure even wider engagement and to capture feedback on community priorities and concerns.

  • Between May and July 2025, the project team will host Sector-Specific Workshops focusing on critical areas such as buildings, transportation, and circularity. These workshops will bring together technical stakeholders, Community Task Force members, and the general public to develop and prioritize actionable strategies to address sector-specific challenges and opportunities.

  • In July and August 2025, plan development will begin in earnest, consolidating input from the outreach and workshops into a cohesive set of goals and strategies. Public engagement will continue throughout this period to keep the community involved and ensure their voices remain central to the planning process.

  • During September and October 2025, the draft strategic plan will be released for public review and comment. Outreach efforts will intensify to solicit feedback, including a follow-up Community Survey to capture additional input. This phase will provide a final opportunity for the community to weigh in on the draft plan and its proposed strategies.

  • In November 2025, the plan will be finalized, incorporating feedback from the public comment period and ensuring the strategies reflect the community’s priorities. The project team will submit the plan to the EPA by December 1st, 2025. This comprehensive and inclusive process is intended to create a plan that effectively reduces climate pollution while reflecting the voices and needs of frontline communities.

  • From January 2025 to June 2027, the project team will utilize any remaining CPRG resources to assist with plan facilitation and implementation.

During December 2024, this initial phase, the project team is seeking applicants for the community task force to ensure frontline communities are represented throughout the process as well as volunteers and project partners to help amplify our impact.
